Catherine leads CIFAR’s communications and stakeholder engagement strategies with a focus on international profile and reputation.
She oversees a team of strategic communications, media relations and event planning experts who support CIFAR’s research programs and promote research findings that advance our understanding of science and humanity’s most important questions. The team manages nearly 100 global events each year and engages with media and stakeholders around the world to stimulate new conversations on the importance of fundamental research, on Canada’s strengths in international research collaboration and on CIFAR’s leadership in Artificial Intelligence. The team works closely with CIFAR’s knowledge mobilization, research and advancement teams and leads communications for the CIFAR Pan-Canadian AI Strategy.
Catherine is an accomplished communications leader with experience in the public and private sectors. She joined CIFAR in 2019 from the University of Toronto, where her team earned more than 25 international awards of excellence for communications strategy and implementation. She is a former governor of the University of Toronto and an active community volunteer.
