About
Filippo serves as a Program Manager within the Pan-Canadian AI Strategy at CIFAR, supporting the organization’s mission to advance the Canadian AI ecosystem. He oversees the daily administration of the Canada CIFAR AI Chairs Program, a federal initiative designed to attract and retain top-tier researchers. In this capacity, Filippo acts as a liaison to Canada’s three National AI Institutes (Mila, Amii and the Vector Institute) and coordinates with the International Scientific Advisory Committee to ensure rigorous evaluation processes.
Internally, Filippo works to streamline program operations. He contributes to the adoption of Generative AI tools and assists in designing data-driven metrics for performance tracking. He also organizes major ecosystem gatherings and initiatives, like AICan, the Aim4theMoon workshop with the Canadian Space Agency and the Canada-Italy Joint Advisory Group on AI.
Prior to joining CIFAR, Filippo worked in the Research & Publishing Development division at Frontiers Media SA, managing editorial boards for journals in health and biomedicine. He holds a doctorate from the University of Toronto and has previously collaborated with the World Health Organization on global health policy databases.
