About
Rubaina Farin is the Applied AI Research & Program Assistant within the Pan-Canadian AI Strategy department, where she supports applied AI research, program coordination and strategic initiatives that advance Canada’s AI ecosystem. Drawing on a multidisciplinary background in biomedical engineering, data science and policy, she contributes to projects that bridge technology, research and public impact.
Prior to joining the Pan-Canadian AI Strategy team, Rubaina built research and technical expertise through academic, industry and community-based initiatives. Her experience spans biomedical engineering, artificial intelligence and data analytics, with work focused on healthcare, infrastructure and emerging technologies. She has also contributed to AI policy through Gen(Z)AI, Canada’s first national youth assembly on AI and helped develop youth-focused civic engagement initiatives through BacharLorai’s Youth Voices for Inclusion.
Rubaina is currently pursuing a Master of Engineering in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Toronto and holds an Honours Bachelor of Science in Genetics and Cognitive Science from the University of Toronto. She is passionate about advancing responsible AI and developing technology-driven solutions that create meaningful societal impact.
