As CIFAR looks to increase global awareness of their mission, they are seeking a Vice President, Global Government Affairs (VP, GGA) to lead CIFAR’s provincial, national, and international government relations strategy.
Reporting to the President & CEO, the Vice President, Global Government Affairs (VP, GGA) will work in collaboration with senior leadership and the government affairs team to establish new public partnership opportunities that align with CIFAR’s mission. Leading a staff, the VP will forge key relationships with public funders in Canada and the international science and technology communities, increasing awareness and funding of CIFAR in support of its global impact on fundamental research. Acting as an ambassador for CIFAR, the new VP will coordinate regular communications with key partners at all levels of provincial, national, and international governments and represent CIFAR in the public fora with tact, diplomacy, and sophistication. As an inspirational and inclusive leader, the VP will support an organizational culture that is diverse, inclusive, anti-racist, and accessible.
As the ideal candidate, you serve as a key ambassador for CIFAR, bringing relevant experience in business, science, or public administration. You have a large global network of key decisionmakers at all levels of government. You have a passion for innovation and understand the impact that fundamental science can have on global society. You understand government priorities and can demonstrate the impact of CIFAR’s work on those priorities. Collaborative and culturally astute, you know how to secure funding and create new public partnerships that support the expansion of CIFAR’s programs. You foster an inclusive and innovative workplace culture where new ideas are valued, and team members are empowered to be their best. Bilingualism (French/English) and additional languages will be considered an asset. The position can be located in Canada or in a key partner country.
