La semaine derni\u00e8re, <a href=\"https:\/\/cifar.ca\/fr\/biographie\/geoffrey-hinton\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Geoffrey Hinton<\/a> (Universit\u00e9 de Toronto), actuellement sp\u00e9cialiste-conseil au sein du programme <a href=\"https:\/\/cifar.ca\/fr\/programmes-de-recherche\/apprentissage-automatique-apprentissage-biologiques\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Apprentissage automatique, apprentissage biologique<\/a>, s\u2019est vu d\u00e9cerner le <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nobelprize.org\/prizes\/physics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">prix Nobel de physique<\/a> pour ses contributions r\u00e9volutionnaires \u00e0 l\u2019IA. Ces trois r\u00e9alisations exceptionnelles portent \u00e0 23 le nombre de laur\u00e9ats du prix Nobel que le CIFAR a compt\u00e9 dans ses rangs depuis sa cr\u00e9ation il y a plus de quarante ans.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u2009Depuis plus de 40 ans, le CIFAR est fier de soutenir la recherche audacieuse \u00e0 fort impact, \u00e0 la fine pointe de la d\u00e9couverte\u2009\u00bb, d\u00e9clare Stephen Toope, pr\u00e9sident et chef de la direction du CIFAR. \u00ab\u2009L\u2019annonce des prix Nobel de cette ann\u00e9e souligne l\u2019importance de soutenir la recherche \u00e0 long terme qui pourrait transformer le monde qui nous entoure. Geoffrey Hinton, Daron Acemoglu et James Robinson d\u00e9montrent que la t\u00e9nacit\u00e9 intellectuelle peut mener \u00e0 des perc\u00e9es et leurs r\u00e9compenses sont bien m\u00e9rit\u00e9es.\u2009\u00bb<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #da291c;\">Faire progresser l\u2019\u00e9tude de la prosp\u00e9rit\u00e9<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>L\u2019\u00e9conomie politique est de longue date un domaine d\u2019\u00e9tude pour le CIFAR. Il y a vingt ans, le CIFAR a cr\u00e9\u00e9 le programme Institutions, organisations et croissance afin de mettre en lumi\u00e8re la meilleure fa\u00e7on d\u2019aborder certains des probl\u00e8mes les plus difficiles auxquels le monde est confront\u00e9 aujourd\u2019hui, de la pauvret\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019in\u00e9galit\u00e9 en passant par l\u2019instabilit\u00e9 et la violence. En tant que membres du programme, Daron Acemoglu et James Robinson se sont joints \u00e0 un groupe de recherche prestigieux pour \u00e9tudier les raisons pour lesquelles certaines nations prosp\u00e8rent alors que d\u2019autres \u00e9chouent. Leurs travaux ont men\u00e9 \u00e0 la publication d\u2019un ouvrage marquant, Why Nations Fail : The Origins of Power, Prosperity and Poverty en 2012.<\/p>\n<p>Ces efforts continus de mise en \u00e9vidence des syst\u00e8mes structurels qui contribuent \u00e0 la prosp\u00e9rit\u00e9 sont au c\u0153ur de leur nomination en tant que laur\u00e9ats du prix Nobel d\u2019\u00e9conomie \u00ab\u2009pour leurs \u00e9tudes sur la fa\u00e7on dont les institutions sont form\u00e9es et influencent la prosp\u00e9rit\u00e9\u2009\u00bb. Les assises jet\u00e9es par le programme Institutions, organisations et croissance du CIFAR continuent de guider les travaux actuels du programme <a href=\"https:\/\/cifar.ca\/fr\/programmes-de-recherche\/innovation-equite-et-avenir-de-la-prosperite\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Innovation, \u00e9quit\u00e9 et avenir de la prosp\u00e9rit\u00e9<\/a>, dont l\u2019objectif est d\u2019examiner les syst\u00e8mes institutionnels qui fa\u00e7onnent la prosp\u00e9rit\u00e9 et s\u2019attaquent aux in\u00e9galit\u00e9s.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #da291c;\">Poser les bases de la r\u00e9volution actuelle de l\u2019IA<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Geoffrey Hinton, membre de longue date du CIFAR, a \u00e9galement rejoint l\u2019illustre groupe des laur\u00e9ats du prix Nobel. Hinton a re\u00e7u le prix Nobel de physique de 2024, conjointement avec John Hopfield, \u00ab\u2009pour des d\u00e9couvertes et des inventions fondamentales qui rendent possibles l\u2019apprentissage automatique avec les r\u00e9seaux de neurones artificiels\u2009\u00bb. Hinton s\u2019est joint \u00e0 la communaut\u00e9 du CIFAR pour la premi\u00e8re fois en 1987, en tant que membre du tout premier programme du CIFAR, alors connu sous le nom Intelligence artificielle, robotique et soci\u00e9t\u00e9. Hinton est toujours sp\u00e9cialiste-conseil du programme Apprentissage automatique, apprentissage biologique.
