About
Ash Amin is known for his work in urban, cultural and economic geography. He has supervised 36 doctoral students and been member or chair of a number of university and research committees nationally and internationally. His recent writing has been on cities understood as sociotechnical assemblages, on the relations between everyday life and infrastructures in slums, on the shaping of mental health in modes of urban dwelling, and on the intersections of everyday urban encounter and national languages of belonging. He has (co) authored or (co) edited over 20 books, some of which have been translated into Italian, Russian and Spanish, and he has (co) written over 110 journal articles and book chapters. His latest book After Nativism: Belonging in an Age of Intolerance will be published by Polity Press in Autumn 2023.
