José Jackson-Malete

About

José Jackson-Malete is the Co-Director of the Alliance for African Partnership (AAP) at Michigan State University (MSU). She is responsible for the strategic direction and governance issues of the AAP. She received her Masters degree and PhD in Food Science from Cornell University and Michigan State University, respectively and Bachelors degree in Chemistry from the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus in Jamaica. She has over 20 years of research, capacity building and partnership development experience in Africa, North America, and the Caribbean. She is the former President of the Southern African Research and Innovation Management Association from 2015-2017 and led the effort to professionalize research management in Africa and currently chairs the Technical Review Committee (TRC) of the Research Management International Professional Recognition Council (IPRC). At MSU, she established the African Futures Research Leadership program to build the capacity and advance the careers of early career researchers from Africa. Prior to MSU, she held faculty and leadership positions at the Botswana Institute for Technology Research and Innovation (BITRI), the University of Botswana (UB), the National Food Technology Research Center (NFTRC) and the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus in Jamaica.
