About
Anastasiya Romanska serves as the AI Communications Advisor for the Pan-Canadian AI Strategy at CIFAR.
Born in Ukraine and raised in Toronto, she is passionate about media transparency, accessible storytelling and safeguarding artificial intelligence. Anastasiya holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism from Toronto Metropolitan University and a Master’s Degree in Global Security from King’s College London, with her research examining AI’s impact on Canada’s media landscape and national sovereignty.
Before joining CIFAR, Anastasiya worked as a Community Engagement and Education Advisor at the Dallaire Institute for Children, Peace and Security, where she led the global community engagement strategy aimed at preventing the recruitment and use of children, spanning eight countries and three continents. She previously served as the Press Secretary and Senior Communications Advisor for Ontario’s Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services, and began her career as a segment producer on Canada’s Breakfast Television.
In her spare time, Anastasiya works as a Skate Canada figure skating coach, sharing her love of the ice with the next generation of skaters.
