About
Janet is filling the role of Consultant, Finance at CIFAR. She provides strategic direction for accounting and financial services. Her role extends to offering crucial support to senior leadership, the Audit & Finance Committee and the Investment Committee. She oversees CIFAR’s financial statements, manages cash flow and investments, ensures appropriate segregation of funds in line with donor restrictions and develops and implements enhancements to CIFAR’s internal control environment and risk management practices.
She has worked for decades as a Controller and Director of Finance for various charities and businesses, most recently as Director of Finance for Woodgreen Red Door Family Shelter. She is the controller for the Childhood Cancer Canada Foundation, an organization she has been involved with for over 22 years. She has extensive experience supporting and implementing financial software platforms and working in organizations with government and philanthropic grants.
Janet holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Western University and has completed continuing education accounting courses (CGA level). Her experience spans over 25 years of accounting work with various organizations, which has allowed her to build a strong knowledge base focusing on charitable accounting practices.
