About
Gibson is Associate Professor and Director of the University of Toronto Joint Centre for Bioethics (JCB) in the Dalla Lana School of Public Health. She has an interdisciplinary background in the biological sciences and philosophy. Her research focuses on health system and policy ethics. Gibson has advised governments and policymakers on topics such as public health emergencies, medical assistance in dying, health technology assessment, public health surveillance, and resource priority setting. She founded the JCB’s Ethics and AI for Good Health program in 2018 to explore ethical and social issues associated with the use of AI in health settings and is leading the development and launch of the new AMS-Fitzgerald Fellowship for AI and Human-Centred Leadership for early and mid-career health leaders. Gibson is a member of the WHO Expert Group of Ethics and Governance of AI for Health and is Vice-Chair and member of the Ontario Health Data Council.
