Julio Navarro awarded Tory Medal for outstanding research

The Royal Society of Canada has awarded CIFAR Senior Fellow Julio Navarro (University of Victoria) the 2015 Henry Marshall Tory Medal for his achievements in cosmology.
Navarro has made important contributions to our understanding of how galaxies and clusters of galaxies form and evolve, investigating the stars, gases and dark matter elements that comprise these cosmic structures. He is a fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, and he joined CIFAR’s program in Cosmology & Gravity in 1998.
The Tory award is given bi-annually to a candidate who has done outstanding research in astronomy, chemistry, math, physics or a related field.
