In Memoriam: Charlie Fischer (1950-2020)

The CIFAR community remembers the sage advice and curious mind of Director Emeritus Charlie Fischer.

We mourn the death of Charlie Fischer, who passed away in Calgary on June 17, 2020 at the age of 70. A member of CIFAR’s Board of Directors from 2011-2014 and a long-time donor, Fischer generously supported CIFAR with invaluable advice and time.

“Charlie was a one-of-a-kind man who cared deeply about his country and the people who mattered to him,” says Alan Bernstein, CIFAR President & CEO. “Our conversations were always enlightening and I will miss his energy, his passion, and his wise advice.”

A full obituary was published in the Calgary Herald on June 23, 2020.
