Scientific American | Life is complicated—literally, astrobiologists say

A story published in Scientific American on November 23, 2021 profiles work by CIFAR fellow Heather Graham, part of a team that has put together an important model for astrobiology called “Assembly Theory.” The theory asserts that any form of biology anywhere in the universe will encode life’s information in complex assemblages of molecules that are measurably distinct from lifeless matter.

Life is complicated—literally, astrobiologists say.
