CIFAR congratulates Jeffrey McDonnell on being named an Officer of the Order of Canada, one of the country’s highest civilian honours.
McDonnell, an Advisor in the Earth 4D: Subsurface Science & Exploration program, is considered one of the world’s leading hydrologists. A distinguished professor of hydrology at the University of Saskatchewan, his work is credited for transforming the understanding of global water sustainability.
“Jeffrey’s groundbreaking work in hydrology has helped advance the world’s understanding of one of our most vital resources — water,” said Stephen Toope, President & CEO of CIFAR. “His recognition by the Order of Canada is a testament to his profound impact on science and humanity. We are incredibly proud to count him among CIFAR’s global network of researchers.”
Established in 1967, the Order of Canada recognizes individuals who have demonstrated outstanding achievement, dedication to the community, and service to the nation. It celebrates a wide range of contributions across fields such as science, arts, politics, philanthropy and community service.
