CIFAR has launched the $1 million Futures Challenge, thanks to the generosity of The Michael and Sonja Koerner Charitable Foundation. Your immediate support is crucial in accelerating groundbreaking research and empowering the next generation of scientific leaders. Every dollar supporting our Next Generation Initiatives programming and Catalyst Grants within the Decoding Complex Brains & Data Impact Cluster, will be matched 1:1, up to $1 million. The $1M CIFAR Futures Challenge aims to inspire others to double their impact when they support these critical CIFAR priorities:

Future Breakthroughs: Supporting innovative Catalyst Grants within this Cluster will accelerate early-stage, collaborative research, advancing our understanding of the brain and mind. The Decoding Complex Brains & Data Impact Cluster supports and facilitates collaboration among extraordinary experts deeply interested in fundamental brain science. These grants probe high-risk, high-reward ideas, often igniting new collaborations, new funding, and research insights that can inform policy, medical interventions, and the ongoing use and adoption of AI.

Future Leaders: Through partnerships, programming, and leadership development, our Next Generation Initiatives develop our future leaders, equipping early-career researchers with the interdisciplinary experience, and skills to advance transformative knowledge and solve humanity’s biggest problems. Supporting this vital work enables our unique model to convene and engage talent, building robust networks for future research leaders who will continue to tackle society’s most important and complex problems.
