Program details
CIFAR Solution Networks receive flexible funding support for three years to to design, develop and implement a responsible AI solution.
The opportunity
This program brings together international experts from across academia, civil society, government and industry to drive sector-specific practice and action by developing and implementing solutions using responsible AI.
CIFAR Solution Networks is a collaborative initiative for interdisciplinary teams led by a core group of up to six individuals. Each team works to develop approaches and applications to support implementation of responsible AI to address urgent, timely problems.
The successful Solution Network receives:
- $60,000 Cdn. per year for each co-director (up to two) and $25,000 Cdn. per year for each core team member (up to four).
- Up to $60,000 Cdn. for each year to support costs directly associated with advancing the network’s solution.
- Financial and logistical support to enable a minimum of two interactions per year (in-person or virtually) between members of the Network and external experts.
- CIFAR’s programmatic and administrative support
Eligibility:
The Solution Network should be made up of an interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral team and must:
- be led by two co-directors and composed of up to four additional members including at least one computer/data scientist and at least one expert in the legal, ethical or policy implications of AI
- have at least one member based in the setting where the solution will be implemented
- achieve equity, diversity and inclusion in the team composition
