About
Johnny is the Senior Officer for Knowledge Mobilization (KM) & Publications at CIFAR, where he analyzes key sector landscapes and stakeholders for new and existing CIFAR research programs, plans and executes knowledge mobilization engagements between research programs and stakeholders, collaborates with the Directors of Research to co-develop societal impact strategies with the research programs, and leads the development and implementation of KM publication plans.
Prior to joining CIFAR, Johnny was the Director of New Initiatives for the Personal Genetics Education Project (pgEd) at Harvard Medical School, where he led efforts to build partnerships with industry, policymakers, educators and faith groups, and provided policy and scientific research for pgEd’s educational materials and Congressional briefings. Before pgEd, he was a Science Writer and Project Manager at the Journal of Visualized Experiments.
Johnny holds a PhD in Biological and Biomedical Sciences, with a secondary field of study in Science, Technology and Society, from Harvard University. While in graduate school, he was also an editor, writer and lecturer for Science in the News, a student-led science communications organization. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in biochemistry from the University of Toronto.
