
Kate Geddie
Senior Director, Research
About
Kate is senior director of research at CIFAR.
Kate holds a PhD in Geography from the University of Toronto, and was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Lausanne and École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Switzerland. She is an economic geographer whose research focuses on universities and regional innovation dynamics, with a particular interest in international scholar and student mobility.
Kate has directed public policy research and analysis on wide range of issues related to higher education, research and innovation in Canada and Europe. She has worked for the European University Association in Brussels, Universities Canada (AUCC) in Ottawa, and her research has been funded by SSHRC, the European Commission, and the Swiss National Science Foundation.
Prior to joining CIFAR, Kate worked as a policy advisor at the University of Toronto, focusing primarily on issues related to federal research funding. She also holds degrees from The University of British Columbia and Wilfrid Laurier University.
