Kira Lussier
Program Officer, Pan-Canadian AI Strategy
About
Kira Lussier is the Program Officer for the Pan-Canadian AI Strategy at CIFAR. In her role, she stewards and analyzes program data, reports on key performance indicators to internal and external stakeholders, supports the Canada CIFAR AI Chair program, manages Catalyst funds and coordinates next-generation AI training programs.
Before joining CIFAR, she spent a decade as an academic researcher at the University of Toronto. As a postdoctoral researcher from 2018-2021, she provided operational, strategic and communications support to launch the BigDataAI Hub at the University of Toronto Mississauga. As an affiliate at Rotman’s Institute for Gender and the Economy, she led a research project on unconscious bias in organizational EDI policies.
She earned her PhD in the history of science & technology from the University of Toronto, writing her dissertation on the history of psychological testing. During her doctoral studies, she held leadership roles in university governance, edited an academic journal, organized a major conference and curated scientific exhibits. Her writing on the social context of science and technology has been published in Slate, Aeon, The Conversation, in addition to academic journals. Kira obtained her BA in history and politics from McGill University.
