On November 28, 2021, WIRED published a profile of work by CIFAR fellow and Canada CIFAR AI Chair Blake Richards that uses mice to test the hypothesis that something analogous to AI’s predictive learning or predictive coding is happening in the neocortex of the brain. This model of “predictive processing” could provide a unifying framework for understanding brain behaviours.
